Lordosis: an inward curve in the lumbar spine. Some degree of curve is normal and to be expected in the lumbar spine, however this curve can become exaggerated due to strength and flexibility imbalances in the tight lower back (erector spinae, quadratus lumborum) and hip flexors (iliopsoas), the weak abdominals (rectus abdominus, internal oblique, external oblique) and hamstrings/glute max. The opposite of this, the loss of the lordotic curve, is called flat-back.
